Meet Bambi — a calm, gentle soul who has endured far too much neglect. She weighs only 17 pounds, every bone visible through her coat, and has a hole in her right hip that the vet believes came from a gunshot.

Thank goodness a Spark driver sprang into action and immediately called for help. We don’t take emergency requests lightly, and this girl needed help long before she was ever found.

What hurts the most is that Bambi is around 4 years old. Regardless of the circumstances of roaming the streets, the person who picked her up couldn’t have been the only one to see her. Yes, there are many dogs running loose in our parish — and yes, it can be easy to look away. But when you see something like this, how do you ignore it?
